Before everyone starts making negative comments on this post, don’t get excited. It’s not really a reboot or remake. Hollywood is giving us a brand new vacation movie with the actors aged appropriately for once in the timeline. It’s a sequel that focuses on Rusty’s family. NOT a reboot. NOT a remake. This news broke with filming on the franchise entry set to begin this week, Leslie Mann is eyeing a role in Warner Bros. Pictures and New Line Cinema’s sequel/reboot, Vacation.
Get ready for yet another Audrey Griswold as Leslie Mann will take over the role in the new Vacation movie (and she’ll be married to the Mighty Thor, no less). Leslie Mann has been announced as Audrey Griswold in the new Vacation sequel. We can’t wait to see the sibling hijinks between her and Ed Helms! Audrey Griswold was played in the original film by Dana Barron (who reprised the role for a 2003 TV movie Christmas Vacation 2: Cousin Eddie’s Island Adventure). The role has frequently been recast with Dana Hill playing the part in European Vacation, Juliette Lewis doing so in Christmas Vacation and Marisol Nichols portraying Audrey in Vegas Vacation.
Mann will join Ed Helms, Christina Applegate, Chevy Chase, Beverly D’Angelo, Chris Hemsworth and Charlie Day in the Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley film. Helms will play an adult Rusty Griswold in the comedy, while Applegate will appear as his wife. Chase and D’Angelo are set to appear as well, reprising their roles from the original film and its sequels.
According to the outlet, the Audrey character is now married to a TV news anchorman, Stone Crandall (Hemsworth). I love Leslie Mann, I just wish John Hughes was alive to write a new movie like his 1980′s classic comedy starring Chevy Chase. This film was instead penned by John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, who would also be making their directorial debut and would be produced by Chris Bender and David Dobkin while Jeff Kleeman exec produces.
