Finally, Disney has released the first trailer for the next movie in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, Dead Men Tell No Tales.
The trailer shows starts off by showing a brutal attack on a British vessel. Then an intimidating figure (Javier Bardem) appears and walks through the massacre. He walks below to find a young man, and says “Find Sparrow for me, and relay a message from Captain Salazar. Tell him death comes straight for him.”
If the movie is half as good as the teaser sets it up to be, it will be an awesome. Bardem’s looks every bit as menacing as any character we’ve seen in this series so far. Couple that with the humor that’s always woven into the script, and it shapes up for some exciting anticipation.
The film is directed by Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg (Netflix’s Marco Polo). Johnny Depp’s character Captain Jack Sparrow is back, and I’m sure better than ever. Rumor has it, the movie will also feature Orlando Bloom’s Will Turner. Last we saw him he had taken control of the Flying Dutchman at the end of the third film, At World’s End.
The last film in the franchise, On Strange Tides, came out in 2011 and was a major success at the box office, even as it received mixed reviews from critics. Dead Men Tell No Tales was planned in 2011 alongside with the fourth film, but was pushed back due to issues with the scripts and the flop of Disney’s The Lone Ranger in 2013.
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales will be released on May 26th, 2017.
